A token pasted into a website is a token you have given away. DropBench decodes it locally, formats JSON, generates a Codable model, converts timestamps, and strips the system frames out of a stack trace.

A screenshot of an error carries the surrounding code, the file name and the line the caret is on — everything the OCR’d text loses. DropBench opens Claude or ChatGPT with the image already in the composer.

Where does my data go?
Nowhere. Recognition, text extraction and OCR all happen on your Mac. There is no account, no telemetry and no server. The one exception is an AI action marked ↗, which contacts the provider you configured, after asking.
How do I open it?
Unzip it and drag DropBench to your Applications folder. It lives in the menu bar — there is no Dock icon, because it is summoned rather than opened. Press ⌥Space.
Do I need a licence key?
Yes. DropBench asks for one when you open it. The licence arrives by email with your download link when you buy.
Does the licence check phone home?
No. The licence is a short signed block of text, and DropBench checks the signature against a key built into the app. There is no licence server, no activation, and no request of any kind — the same promise the rest of the app makes.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
Yes. The licence is yours, not a machine’s, and nothing counts installs. It carries your name, so please treat it as yours rather than something to pass around.
I paid — where is my download?
In your email, usually within a minute of paying, sent to the address you gave Stripe: the download link and the licence together. Check spam before worrying. If it is genuinely not there, email [email protected] from the address you paid with.
What do I do with the licence?
Open DropBench, go to Settings › Licence, and paste the whole block in. It is checked on your Mac, so it works offline and on as many of your own Macs as you like.
Will macOS warn me about it?
No. It is signed with a Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens it without a warning.
What permissions does it ask for?
Only at the moment an action needs one: Reminders, Calendar, or a folder you pick. The first rename in a folder asks for that folder once; later ones don’t.
Does it work without an AI provider?
Yes. Most of it is local rules — recognition, renaming, JSON, tokens, timestamps, stack traces. AI actions are the ones marked ↗ and are optional.
Can I get a refund?
No — payments are not refunded. If something does not work, email [email protected] and it will be sorted out.
